DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY / CAMERA OPERATIONS

Beginner and Intermediate   –   All November 2014

If you don’t own a DSLR or just bought one and feeling overwhelmed, have you been stuck in Auto mode for years and are feeling frustrated? Then this course is specially made for you. It was really easy to split this course in two different courses (and charge separately 😛 ) but we at Q8EPC believe that you deserve more for less.

Take control of your DSLR camera now with this hands-on workshop. This 8 hour course is an introductory one and assumes little or no prior knowledge of your camera or photo composition. The aim of the course is to get beginner photographers comfortable with the camera and its most useful functions, arm you with essential photographic terminology and give you basic tips and rules for creating more compelling photos.

The content of the course is based on the features and knowledge required for Digital SLR (DSLR) cameras, it is not suitable for the digital ‘point & shoot’ cameras.

What is Included:

* 6 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of practical

* Class notes

* Presentations

* Workshops and Homeworks

and much more…

What Is Covered:

You will learn all about pixels, resolution, white balance, focus lock, exposure compensation and will be introduced to the uses of different lenses. You will also understand ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, and how all of these relate to each other to achieve a creatively correct exposure.

A significant amount of time will be spent ensuring that you understand the foundations of photography, creative exposure, depth of field and shutter speed and how these are controlled by the semi-manual modes on your camera. The essentials of better composition will also be explored and you will learn how to review your work with a critical eye and improve your shots through applying simple compositional rules and using natural light effectively.

This 8-hour photography class covers some of the advanced features of your camera, as well as advanced shooting techniques allowing you complete creative control.

At the end of this course we aim to have you taking photos in manual modes, controlling your depth of field and shutter speed. Some course topics are:

* Dealing with tricky lighting situations: exposure bracketing; and shooting in low light

* Creative shooting: painting with light; capturing and freezing motion, and panning

* Composition beyond the rule of thirds: achieving balanced images through advanced composition techniques used by pro photographers and shooting with “intent”

* Manual focus: how it works and when to use it

* Introduction to on camera flash

…and much more

Full course topics will be shared only with those who register.

What to bring with you:
